_Capacitor_ replaced the term _condenser_ (coined by 吴语: Alessandro Volta in 1782) to disambiguate it from _steam condenser_. The coiner is unknown[1] but the change was recommended in 1926 by _British Standard Glossary of Terms in Electrical Engineering_.
