      <security> A slang term for a collection of computers or networks
   that have been compromised by
      criminals.  The term implies that the password of the root user
   is known.  This grants whoever
      posesses it root (system administrator) access.  These passwords
   are often sold to spammers
      and phishing gangs who then use the compromised systems to send out
   millions of e-mail messages.
